Margaret River, WA – Renowned West Australian artist Leon Pericles has returned home to Margaret River on a high after an overwhelmingly successful exhibition at Linton & Kay Galleries in Cottesloe, Perth. The show, titled Objecticus Eclectics, ran through May and drew crowds of art lovers and collectors, resulting in a sea of red dots and an influx of orders that exceeded all expectations.
“In times that can be quieter for the arts, this response was incredibly uplifting,” Pericles said. “It feels like a spark of hope for the entire creative community—and I’m hopeful this enthusiasm will flow into the upcoming Margaret River Open Studios event.”
Based in Margaret River for many years, Pericles works from a custom-built print room and studio nestled in the region’s stunning natural surroundings. Deeply inspired by the local landscape, flora, fauna and the people, he describes the area as imbued with “an air of magic and creativity.”
“No wonder artists and creatives love to live here,” he said. “There’s something about the environment that fuels the imagination—Margaret River is a special place.”
A passionate advocate for environmental conservation, Pericles is also an ambassador for Nature Conservation Margaret River, reflecting his commitment to protecting the natural beauty that so heavily influences his art.
This September, he will once again open his studio and sculpture gardens to the public as part of the Margaret River Open Studios, running 13th – 18th September. Visitors can step into his “magical artistic world,” view a wide range of his work—including the recently debuted etching Marks of Perpetual Significance—and experience new sculptural pieces integrated into his whimsical garden.
Pericles also encourages visitors to explore the many talented artists participating in Open Studios this year, noting the ongoing growth and evolution of the local arts scene. “The standard just keeps getting better. It’s an exciting time to be part of this creative community.”
