I hope that people can see the humour in this etching with the unlikely pairing of science-fiction character Superman and religious figure Archangel Gabriel, in the dusty setting of the Australian bush. They are both iconic figures representing loyalty, morality and imagination and have both shaped values of many Australians. While mystical, they provide a powerful thing which is hope and belief.

I have a deep affection for the Australian bush – it’s history, romantic (slightly nurdish) look and the knowledge it holds… a character itself. Sheep dogs have a very important role in farming the bush so they are also the hero of this piece.
