Islands of Lost Memories

Leon Pericles

Islands of Lost Memories

19 x 47 cmline etching
$1,400.00
Islands of Lost Memories
New Studio Release in support of Dementia Australia

Following the success of Etching for Moi, which has raised more that one hundred thousand dollars for Australian Alzheimer’s Research, Leon wanted to continue the fundraising.

Here Leon depicts memories that are tethered so they don’t float away - perhaps by love - perhaps by strength - perhaps by others. All the objects are once important things to someone. Sentimental value. It’s all very personal. These are important things and ideas passed through generations. Lessons learned and glimpses of times past.

The tragedy of Moi references Leon’s sadness at losing the shared memories from his life with wife Moi who has advanced dementia. He himself has started to lose the memories because he’s no longer able to reminisce with her.
