Alpha Betty is the deliberate destruction of something very structured – the alphabet – to create something abstract. What is then found in the image is led by the viewer. Perhaps it is a landscape directed by the horizontal lines. Perhaps it is a jumble of all the languages that would come out of that landscape. It is a contrast of intricate balance against plain space.

Alpha Betty is an example of Leon’s fascination with objects and precise construction.
