The Return of Tiggy Puggenheim
Ex Animo Art in Adelaide transformed last Friday night, as Pericles’ whimsical town of Widjimorphup came to life.
Three actors opened the exhibition in style, playing characters “Tiggy Puggenheim” (esteemed art collector), “Salvadore Dali” (famous artist & friend of Tiggy), and “Mervin Pigmorton” (Widjimorphup Town Mayor). They arrived in a vintage car and welcomed everyone to the town of “Widjimorphup” with a series of theatrical speeches. Participants were nominated a “Widji” character to embody for the night, and were invited to join in on the fun. From “Dog Food Manufacturer” to “Handy Woman” the crowd was full of quirky characters.
Pericles displayed some exciting new original works, rare and out of edition pieces from his personal collection, the “Tiggy Puggenheim Collection”, as well as a his famous prints. The exhibition was curated so the viewer could walk through the space on a journey, with each section titled and themed. The Tiggy Puggenheim collection made quite an impact, as the works featured decadent gold framing and humorous provinces accompanying each work.
The show was a contemporary revival of his famous touring “Tiggy Puggenheim Collection”, which showed everywhere from Broome to London.
Participants were blown away by the mastery and curiosity in Pericles’ works, and thought the Opening Night was a unique and fun experience they will always remember.
The exhibition will be displayed at Ex Animo Art until the 14th of December 2024.
